Benjamin was born in Bluffton, Ohio to Mennonite parents. He started his career in the theater playing "the cop who tried to arrest Rosa Parks" in a skit in Ms. Davenport's sixth grade class in Worthington, Ohio. Though he was most likely booed for his initial effort on stage, his desire to perform carried him through numerous productions in high school, and led him to seek a BFA from Otterbein College. Upon graduation, he moved to Chicago where he worked with such nationally recognized theaters as Steppenwolf, TimeLine, Division 13, About Face, Bailiwick and The Goodman. He also starred in the award-winning, short film "Caught." He moved to LA in 2001, to appear alongside Broadway veteran Carol Lawrence and Tony Award winner Anthony Crivello in David Lee's production of "Do I Hear a Waltz?" at The Pasadena Playhouse. Since then, he has also appeared in numerous other Los Angeles productions at Secret Rose, Greenway Court, The Hudson, The Whitefire and the Ivar. These appearances led critic Les Spindle to feature Benjamin in a "one to watch" profile in Backstage West in 2003. Show less «
