Dan'l Terry (given name Daniel Terry) was born in Key West, Florida, the first son of Frank and Nadine Terry. Raised in upstate New York, when father was transferred to General Electric's main factory, Terry was drawn to the arts of theater, drawing and music at a young age. By seventeen he'd performed in half a dozen or more theater productions and performing in a rock combo for several years.Following an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1971, he relocated to 'manage' a micro ranch in the desert of South Texas near Normanna. Returning to school after several years, he moved to the Austin/San Marcos area and earned several degrees while earning a living as a graphics and museum exhibition designer, commercial photographer, computer graphic artist and college professor (in both arts & media). Throughout much of those years, he'd continue to be seen on stage in theater or with one of several music performing groups including the Texas State Symphony (on double bass), and increasingly on television or film.By 1983 onward, in Austin where art & technology merge, he was one of the pioneers in Computer Graphics for film & video, working with some of the earliest systems and programs in 3D visualization and animation. In 1985 he won the top animation prize at SIGGRAPH for the Aurora Animation Competition. His long interest in photography, expanded to include motion videography and cinematography influenced by friendships with groundbreaking cinematographers, Ron Perryman and Albert Maysles. His computer graphics expertise were discovered in the independent film industry in Austin, as he was called on to serve as set designer, production designer, animator, visual effects producer and visual artist and in the camera department. In the 1990s Terry committed to pursue the creation of films as a career full time, writing and developing original film works, a return to acting, and apply his experience in Directing. A fortuitous long term partnership with another creative film writer, R.L. Potenzo, led to the formation of a feature film production company in Austin, Dreamstream Entertainment.Their first collaborative screenplay was optioned and entered into preproduction January 2009 in partnership with two other established studios, Spiderwood Productions (Austin), and Archstone Pictures (LA).The working title of the psychological thriller feature, one of several the partnership is developing, is "Sweet Sister".
