Born and raised in Mexico (Tuxpan, Ver. 1967), Magda Ochoa is an eclectic actress based in Vancouver, B.C. Coming from a small town, she moved to Mexico City to pursue her acting career. From 1988 to 1991 she completed her first acting diploma (IAE Mexico City), was enrolled at the National School of Languages, Linguistics and Translation (CELE UNAM), worked as a corporal expression instructor (Talleres de la UNAM) and was an audit student in the Literature Faculty at UNAM in a challenging course offered by Hector Mendoza and Luisa Josefina Hernandez. In 1991 she earned a broadcasting certification from RTC Mexico. Upon moving to Canada, she earned a scholarship through Laval University and earned a major in Theatre (1996-2000). Magda is a stage artist with experience as an actress and director; she has worked as a drama teacher at college and university level (Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City and Universidad De Las Américas in Sta. Catarina, Puebla) and has worked as a stage and public T.V. and film actress. Magda also has experience in dubbing, radio production and broadcast, as well as puppet creation and handling. As an actress many teachers, mentors and directors she has worked with have contributed to her artistic style such as Hector Mendoza, Gilberto Guerrero, Jorge Ortiz, Elena Zepeda, Isabel Hernandez, Carlos Guizar, Chistina Michaus, Adam Guevara, Chantal Hébert, Irène Perelli -Contos, Vincent Nadeau, Gilles Girard, and recently Aaron Hutchinson and Loretta Walsh. However, her main inspirational sources are Stanislavski, Grotowski, Peter Brook, Antonin Artaud, Augusto Boal, and Robert Lepage. Show less «
