Martin Chan is known for his charismatic personality and athletically built. Because of his look and built, he has played very featured Soldier in Star Trek Into Darkness directed by J.J. Abrams and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra directed by Steven Sommers.Chan was born and raised in Hong Kong. Despite the fact that Hong Kong is a big City in Southern China, he grew up on a topical island away from the city called Cheung Chau. As a teenager, he spent most of his time, swimming, hiking, playing basketball and riding bicycle on the island. And his parents ran a small clothing store on the island.During that time, Hong Kong was still under British. Chan attended a very good English high school, King's College in the city. Everyday, he would spend one hour on the ferry to the school and then one hour back home. When he was eighteen years old, he moved to North America. He lived in different cities before he finally landed in Los Angeles.The fact that he grew up in the Golden Era of Hong Kong Cinema, he always has the love and passion towards movies. Despite he has a Bachelor degree in Engineering, he ended up pursuing his Acting and Film making career. When Chan first started, he would sign up any performing opportunities, including American Idol in 2006. Outside the audition venue in Rose Bowl, Pasadena, he got discovered by a casting company. They soon put him as featured medical personnel in the TV show, Untold Stories of the ER. From that time on, he has been participated in many films, TV shows and commercials.Recently, he gets very involved in the Cinema department in Los Angeles City College, where he learns and participates in cinema production, such as, writing, directing and cinematography.Chan is developing his first movie," Dai Lo", an Asian Crime Genre, which he wants to pay tribute to Chow Yun Fat and John Woo.Besides Cinematic Arts, Chan also has passion towards Martial Arts. For the past ten years, he has been part of the Northern Shaolin Kung Fu Association in Los Angeles, trained under Grand master Ken Hui in Traditional Chinese Kung Fu. He also studies different Combat Arts, including Boxing, Fencing and Judo from Grand Master Hayward Nishioka. Show less «
