Timbuk 3 was an alternative folk, pop, and rock music outfit consisting of the husband and wife duo of Pat MacDonald and Barbara MacDonald. Pat and Barbara first met each other in Madison, Wisconsin. Timbuk 3 was an alternative folk, pop, and rock music outfit consisting of the husband and wife duo of Pat MacDonald and Barbara MacDonald. Pat and Barbara first met each other in Madison, Wisconsin. They formed the duo Timbuk 3 and moved to Austin, Texas. Timbuk 3 signed up with the label I.R.S. Records and released their debut album "Greetings from Timbuk 3" in 1986. The album beget the hit song "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades," which peaked at #19 on the Billboard pop radio charts. Timbuk 3 not only appeared on various television shows, but also opened in concert for such artists as Sting, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, and James Brown. Moreover, the duo was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1987 while the music video for "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" was nominated for MTV's Best New Artist Video. Timbuk 3 recorded several more albums before breaking up in 1996. The duo was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2002. Pat and Barbara both went on to pursue solo music careers.
