CHRISTINE HARGENSEN, in the Carrie franchise, led the Kleen Korners Klique at Ewen High School in Chamberlain, Maine. Chris started the chant of Period Period! Period! Period! Chris opened the tampon dispenser and threw the first tampon at Carrie. And when Miss Desjardin punished the PE class with one week's detention on the playing field, Chris tried to lead a mutiny against the teacher. But no one joined her. So she drew a three-day suspension and lost her prom tickets. Even her father, the prominent attorney, couldn't get her out of this.So she decided to make this a prom to remember. Susan Snell played straight into her hands: she encouraged her current flame, Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to the prom. So Chris rigged the King and Queen election to elect Tommy and Carrie. And Chris prevailed on her own flame, Billy Nolan, to kill a pig, drain its blood, fill a bucket (or two buckets) with it, and balance it (or them) on a beam, with a rope and pulley system ready to dump the bucket(s) at the right moment.Everything went according to plan. Of course, one of the buckets fell and hit Tommy and killed him. Too bad.She and Billy went to Billy's place, where Billy half-raped her. Then incredible tales reached them: that a fire had started in the school gymnasium and killed more than seventy people inside. Chris and Billy got into Billy's car and started driving down Main Street. Then they saw Carrie, standing in the middle of the street like the moron she was. Billy floored the gas.Accounts differ on what exactly happened next. By one account, the wheel twisted in Billy's hands and caused the car to roll over. By the two others, the car literally hit an invisible wall.
