He struggles with knowing a relationship between cousins is wrong and wanting to act on it, but goes to great length to impress her, including joining the school play and wearing a fake muscle shirt. She simplifies the situation by being completely oblivious to his feelings.He has a generally good relationship with his over-protective father, although he is working on asserting his independence.In an effort to get over his cousin, he dates a bland girl named Ann Veal who comes from an extremely religious family.
