Hank Griffin is a Portland police officer partnered with Nick Burkhardt, whose second full-job as a Grimm is hunting supernatural beings called Wesens who pose a threat to humanity. Of course, Hank knows nothing of his friend and partner's extra workload, though the cases he works on do frequently crossover into their regular homicide duties.Despite not being let in on Nick's big secret, Hank does recognize that his partner has a strange and uncanny ability to read complete strangers, but attributes it to Nick simply being a natural fit for life as a law enforcement officer. For the most part, Hank is laid back and level headed. He is also somewhat sarcastic and doesn't do well with too much blood and gore. Nick is also a better-than-average physical presence, valuable when cases get a bit hairy -- sometimes literally, though Hank can't see the animal-like beasts easily spotted by Nick.Hank has been married multiple times and is currently single. Like Nick, he works under police captain Sean Renard and was once friendly with Adalind Schade, a lawyer with a shady past.
