Marcy Rhoades D'Arcy is the next-door neighbor of Al and Peggy Bundy. While she first displays noble characteristics of a wife who appreciated her husband, worked and enjoyed sex with him, this waned with her exposure to Peggy Bundy. Her animosity towards Al grew over the year, mostly because of his continual referral to her a chicken or hen. Marcy does speak of her overbearing mother on occasion, and has mentioned at least one sister. However, she never talks of her father, indicating he was either deceased or absent. She does have an identical cousin who is openly gay. Marcy's first husband, Steve, was a banker like her, but fell into disregard when he loaned Al $50,000 for a shoe help line. After losing his job, Steve decided to leave Marcy and be a Park Ranger. Marcy was single for a while, but ended up marrying Jefferson D'Arcy on a drunken binge. Unfortunately, Jefferson is a lazy, gigolo, gold digger who is a great lover. Marcy does everything she can to hurt Al Bundy, often showing spite. She got a football field to be named after him to be named after Terry Bradshaw, filed a lawsuit against Al's shoe store to allow breastfeeding, and got Psycho Dad off the air. Often snobbish, she talks down to Al, Kelly and Bud, she keeps a marginal friendship with Peggy. Ironically, she displays just as much greed, chicanery and sexual dysfunction as Al Bundy. Throughout the series, Marcy inexplicably became more of a butch lesbian dresser. Show less «
