Telly Monster is a purplish-pink young monster who lives at 1304 Sesame Street. He has a rather neurotic personality and a tendancy to start worrying about things needlessly. When he first learned about the coming new year, for instance, he worried that it was bad news and that everything he loved would go away along with the old year. It took some coaxing and explaining from Gina to make him realize that nothing bad came with the new year.Telly has a pet hamster named Chuckie Sue. He gave her the last name Sue upon realizing she was a girl and not a boy. He also has a monster doll named Freddy, who he claims worries even more than he does (which is saying something). He is close friends with Baby Bear, who hangs out with him a lot. Telly has also tried to make friends with Oscar the Grouch, though it's been rather difficult. The two of them traveled together in the movie Follow That Bird . In addition, Telly is sometimes a member of Oscar's groucketeer club and hosts Ask Oscar , in which the latter answers questions mailed to him by grouches from all over. They also acted as film critics in Sneak Peek Previews , rating films with wows and phooeys . During these sketches, Oscar tended to trick Telly into sitting in a broken chair, which would cause Telly to spill his popcorn all over the place.Telly's favorite instrument is the tuba, which he is frequently seen playing. He once performed a tuba/violin duet with Itzhak Perlman. He also has an interest in triangles. In fact, he is a member of the Triangle Lover's Club, led by the Grand High Triangle Lover.
