The White Knight, whose name derives from the chess piece, is a character in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass . However, he very often appears in film versions of Alice in Wonderland since many film versions tend to combine episodes of that novel with episodes from Through the Looking Glass . In appearance and style he somewhat resembles Don Quixote, the hero of Miguel de Cervantes's 17th-century novel of the same name, and like Quixote, he frequently has mishaps such as falling off his horse and making a loud crash whenever he hits the ground in his full armor. Alice meets him just after Humpty Dumpty has fallen off the wall. Show less «
